Women's Tennis Heads to WVU's Martha Thorn Invite
October 30 | Women's Tennis
AKRON— Zips women's tennis will travel to West Virginia for the Martha Thorn Invitational on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at the Ridgeview Racquet Club.
On Friday, Oct. 31, Akron faces Duquesne at 2 p.m., followed by host West Virginia at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, Nov. 1, the Zips play James Madison at 10 a.m., followed by Liberty at Noon.
Each match will feature No. 1-4 singles play and one doubles match. Line-ups may change for each opponent.
"Our young players will gain valuable experience playing up in the line-up this weekend, with the 4-1 format being used," head coach Brandon Padgett said. "The fall presents an amazing opportunity for us as coaches, to take a blank canvas, so to speak, and help each player paint that canvas through match play and development. We have a young group, but also a hard working and talented group, and we couldn't ask for more than that."
The invite closes Akron's fall schedule. The Zips will resume action on Jan. 17 against Tulane.
