Men's Golf Captures GCAA All-Academic Team Honor for Sixth-Straight Year

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has named the University of Akron men's golf team as one of 141 All-Academic Teams, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The list of teams to post the minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2013-14 season covers all six divisions of collegiate golf. Akron is one of just three Mid-American Conference programs on the list, including Miami (Ohio) and Toledo.
This year marks the sixth-straight season the Zips have earned the GCAA All-Academic Team Award, earning the honor every year the award has been given.
DePaul (Division I), Ferris State (Division II), Carnegie Mellon (Division III), SCAD Atlanta (NAIA), Dodge City (NJCAA DI) and Walters State (NJCAA DII) have been named Academic National Champions for their respective divisions. Dodge City posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions (3.82).
GCAA All-Academic Teams carry a GPA of 3.0 or higher. To be eligible, a college or university must submit the grade points earned and hours attempted for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) was established in 1958 and is located in Norman, Okla. The GCAA is a non-profit organization and is the professional association of men's collegiate golf coaches. Through its established events and programs, the GCAA maintains a goal of increasing awareness and the status of men's golf. There are over 750 members in the GCAA representing all three NCAA divisions as well as NAIA and NJCAA.
