Men's Golf Returns to Action on Saturday at Wolf Run Intercollegiate

AKRON, Ohio – After 11 days off, the University of Akron men's golf team returns to action on Saturday at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate on the par-71, 7,155-yard Wolf Run Golf Club in Zionsville, Ind.
The Zips will face a challenging 15-team field that features two Golfstat Top-10 and seven Golfstat Top-100 teams, including No. 7 Illinois, No. 9 Houston, No. 27 Kentucky, No. 53 South Alabama, No. 56 Chattanooga, No. 72 Florida and No. 88 Indiana (host).
Mid-American Conference foes Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio) and Northern Illinois, as well as IUPUI, Penn State and Williams & Mary, complete the field.
Saturday's shotgun start to round one is set for 8:30 a.m. ET, with the second round to begin immediately following the conclusion of the morning round. Sunday's final round will also begin at 8:30 a.m., with groups teeing off from the first and 10th tees.
The Zips are coming off a 12th-place finish at the 2014 Golfweek Program Challenge on September 9. The Zips posted a 54-hole score of 866 (+2).
J.B. Williams and Harry Whittle posted top-25 finishes for the Zips, concluding the week tied for 20th and tied for 25th, respectively. Williams ended the tournament with a total score of 4-under 212 while Whittle carded a three-day tally of 214 (-2). The top-25 finish was the first of Whittle's career.
The trip to the Wolf Run Intercollegiate is the first for Akron since the 2012-13 season. Akron finished in seventh place (887, +35) and were paced by Charlie Bull's top-two finish. The only Zips making a return trip to the event will be Louis Birchall (tied for 41st) and Ryan Harris (tied for 55th).
