September 28 | Women's Tennis
SOUTH BEND, Ind.— Freshman Sophia Geier (Burgebrach, Germany) concluded play at the Norte Dame Invitational with a singles win on Sunday.
She defeated Notre Dame's Alaina Roberts, 6-3, 6-3.
In the Zips' other singles match, sophomore Shannon Newnes (Romford, London) fell to Louisville's Olivia Boesing, 6-0, 6-2.
"This weekend we knew what we were getting into with the level of opponents, but as with all fall tournaments, we are focused on development," UA head coach Brandon Padgett said. "Some was good, some was bad, but all was beneficial to their overall progress as players."
The Zips host their own Akron Invitational on Oct. 3-5, featuring Cornell, Michigan State, and West Virginia. Action begins each day at 9 a.m. at the LaTuchie Tennis Center (3200 Darrow Road, Stow, Ohio 44224).
