Men's Golf Plays Outer Banks Intercollegiate in Final Fall Event

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's golf team will play its final event of the fall season in Powells Point, N.C. at the Outer Banks Intercollegiate hosted by Old Dominion University. The three-day event is scheduled to begin on Sunday, Oct. 25 at the par 72, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club with 18 holes played each day.
The 18-team field features two programs ranked in GolfStat's Top 100 (Oct. 21), including No. 55 James Madison and No. 83 Campbell. Also competing at the event are host Old Dominion, Akron, Bowling Green, Delaware, Drake, Drexel, George Mason, Hartford, Hofstra, La Salle, Longwood, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, Saint Francis, Saint Josephs, and South Dakota.
The Zips' five-man roster includes senior Ryan Harris (Carlisle, Mass.), sophomore George Baylis (Ascot, England), junior J.B. Williams (Danville, Ky.), redshirt freshman Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.), and junior Yann Pfeiffer (Saint-Nom-la-Breteche, France).
"I am excited to get to NC to compete at our final Fall event," head coach David Trainor said. "Our entire team has worked very hard this fall, and it is starting to show. I love competition, and these guys are really competing hard. It is fun to watch."
The 54-hole event will feature split tee times from the No. 1 and No. 10 tees each day. Sunday and Monday rounds are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET. Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8 a.m. ET start.
Akron will open the tournament on the No. 10 tee at 10 a.m. with Pfeiffer teeing off first followed by Grayson (10:09), Williams (10:18), Baylis (10:27), and Harris (10:36).
