AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct 5-6 when it plays host to The Firestone Invitational at the par-72, 7,125-yard Firestone Country Club North Course.
The 54-hole Firestone Invitational is scheduled to begin on Monday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start and continuous play for 36 holes. Tuesday's final round is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. with split tee times on holes No. 1 & No. 10.
The 16-team field includes host Akron, Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Francis Marion, Georgetown, Illinois State, Maryland, Ohio, Old Dominion, South Carolina-Aiken, Toledo, Valparaiso, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, and Xavier — Oklahoma State (two individuals).

The Zips enter the Firestone Invitational after a 14th place 915 (+63) performance at Toledo's Inverness Intercollegiate. The Zips' five-man roster includes redshirt freshman Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.), sophomore George Baylis (Ascot, Englandwill), juniors J.B. Williams (Danville, Ky.), senior Ryan Harris (Carlisle, Mass.), and senior Louis Birchall (Ingestre Park, England). Joining Zips at the tournament, competing as individuals are junior Yann Pfeiffer (Saint-Nom-la-Breteche, France), junior Zach Gollwitzer (Ballwin, Mo.), junior Chandler Morgan (Lexington, Ky.), and freshman Euan Gill (Dingwall, Scotland).
In 2014, USC Aiken won the tournament by one stroke over Xavier with scores of 289, 293, 294 – 876 (+12) while Xavier's Jose Montano earned medalist honors with a 4-under par 212 three-round total, 69, 72, and 71.
