AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron men's golf head coach David Trainor announced on Friday that Euan Gill (Dingwall, Scotland) has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Zips beginning with the 2015-16 season.
Gill, who attended Dingwall Academy, will join what has become an Akron roster heavy with international talent. The Zips currently boast two players from England and one from France.
"I'm thrilled to have Euan join our Zips Family," Trainor said. "Euan is a very accomplished junior and amateur golfer throughout Scotland, with many distinguished titles and honors. I look forward to getting him on campus in August and helping him reach his goals, as well as helping us win a MAC Championship."
Gill brings a wealth of amateur experience while playing in his home country of Scotland. He was the U-18 Order of Merit Champion for North of Scotland, as well as the County Champion and Double Club Champion in 2014. He has won a number of Opens in Scotland, including the Scottish Junior Tour Carnoustie Open, as well as Opens at Royal Dornoch and Spey Valley.
Gill has represented the North of Scotland at U-16 and U-18 level and has represented his golf club in international matches. He also captained his high school team in both the Highland and Scottish National Championships.
