CINCINNATI, Ohio – The University of Akron men's golf team opened play at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Cincinnati on Monday, but due to heavy downpours play was halted and the tournament was ultimately canceled.

Tuesday's projected forecast for heavy rains forced the overall decision by the host to cancel the event. Many of the 72 players on 11 teams completed 2-5 holes, but the results will not count.

The University of Akron men's golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct 1-2, hosting The Firestone Invitational at the par-72, 7,125-yard Firestone Country Club North Course.
