AKRON, Ohio - The 12th-ranked University of Akron rifle team is set to open its campaign hosting a pair of NCAA newcomers in Mount Aloysius and Schreiner on Saturday (Oct. 7) at the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range starting at noon.

Redshirt senior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio) leads the Zips' returners this season after posting team-best averages of 1179.13, 595.24 and 583.69, respectively, in the combined, air and smallbore rifles.

Akron will also see the return of Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine), seniors Rachel Engels (Meridian, Idaho), Joey Hahn (Middle Grove, N.Y.), Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.) and Cory Stroupe (Brasstown, N.C.), juniors Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.) and Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.) and sophomores Tyler DeKruger (Lancaster, N.Y.), Diane Heschel (Oak Harbor, Ohio) and Elizabeth Lilly (Marble Falls, Texas).

Additionally, the Zips welcome three newcomers in redshirt senior Sally Reeke (Clifton, Va.), junior Logan McClimans (Jamestown, Pa.) and freshman Kiley Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo.).

Akron returns to competition traveling to Murray, Ky., to battle UT Martin and Ole Miss on Friday (Oct. 11) and Saturday (Oct. 12), respectively.
