YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sparked by a five-goal explosion from redshirt senior Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa), the University of Akron lacrosse team opened Mid-American Conference play with a come-from-behind 14-13 victory past Youngstown State on Sunday (March 16).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Boyd registered a game-high five goals on the strength of seven shots, all on goal, while adding five draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover in Akron's first triumph in a league opener since 2022.
• Juniors Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.) along with sophomore Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) netted two goals apiece, while junior Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.), freshman Julia Mattingly (Leonardstown, Md.) and sophomore Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.) posted a goal each.
• Recording one assist each was Baumer, Fletcher and Sikorski.
• Hinchcliffe tallied a game-high 10 shots, including six on goal.
• Baumer, Boyd, junior Dani Dahl (Fairfax, Va.) and Sikorski each garnered two ground balls, while Hinchcliffe and Boyd paced the Zips with six and five draw controls, respectively.
• Senior goalkeeper Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) pulled in seven saves for the Zips.
