Zips Take Gold at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships on Saturday

OCALA, Fla. - The Akron swimming and diving team won the CSCAA National Invitational Championships on Saturday, March 15 with a final score of 650.
Trailing the Zips were Kentucky, who finished second with 629 and Rice, who finished third with 599 points.
Akron saw four Zips advance to the finals after the 100-yard free prelims, with Aislinn Holder leading the way with a fifth-place finish and a time of 49.92. Ada Szwabinska finished seventh with a time of 50.00 while Hannah Trainer finished 10th with a time of 50.19.
Madelyn Gatrall led the way in the 200-yard back prelims with a third-place finish and a time of 1:57.08.
Madelyn Bosler led the Blue and Gold in the 200-yard breast prelims with an eighth-place finish and a time of 2:15.43 while Addy Soehnlen led the way for Akron in the 200-yard fly prelims with a 15th-place finish and a time of 2:01.66.
The 100-yard IM featured Rebecca Reid taking second in the prelims with a time of 55.46 while Felicia Klintemar placed fifth with a time of 55.88.
The 100-yard free finals saw Trainer lead the way with a third-place finish and a time of 49.35. Holder and Szwabinska finished seventh and eighth with times of 49.56 and 49.60.
Bosler took eighth in the 200-yard breast finals with a time of 2:14.96 while Kossakowska took 12th in the 200-yard fly finals with a time of 2:00.21.
The 400-yard free relay featured the Zips taking gold. The squad of Klintemar, (49.61), Trainer (48.93), Holder (49.06) and Reid (49.35) finished with a time of 3:16.95 to set a new CSCAA record.
