Baumer Named MAC Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK RELEASE
CLEVELAND, Ohio – University of Akron junior Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) was honored by the Mid-American Conference as its Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (March 4).
Baumer directed the defensive efforts of the Zips this past week from her defensive midfielder position leading the squad with a team-best 10 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
In Akron's win over Butler, Baumer posted a game-high five ground balls and a game- and season-best three caused turnovers, while adding a goal and a game-best two assists.
Against No. 20 Ohio State she registered a game- and season-high seven draw controls, while adding a game-best marks with five ground balls and two caused turnovers to go along with a pair of offensive shots.
Akron returns to action with a road test at Lindenwood on Saturday (March 8) at 1 p.m. ET.
