Zips Earn 2025 USTFCCCA Team and Individual Academic Accolades

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Akron track and field team was rewarded for its efforts in the classroom as the Zips' men's and women's squads were tabbed by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as 2025 All-Academic Team recipients, the USTFCCCA unveiled this week.
A total of 218 women's and 177 men's teams earned the distinction for maintaining a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher. The Akron women's squad recorded a 3.33 cumulative GPA to be honored for the 23rd consecutive campaign, while the men's team posted a 3.01 GPA.
Individually, Akron earned 10 selections to the 2025 All-Academic Individual List.
Earning All-Academic honors for the 2025 campaign from Akron were redshirt seniors Brook Boes (Tiffin, Ohio) (3.267, Exercise Physiology) and Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) (4.00, Mathematics), seniors Cassidy Allen (Lakewood, N.Y.) (3.571, Biomedical Engineering) and Joy Nwokike (Benin City, Nigeria) (3.682, Communication Studies), junior Vanessa Horn (Ludwigsfelde, Germany) (4.00, Psychology), sophomores Mason Birch (Strongsville, Ohio) (3.358, Financial Management) and Christopher Vance (Parma, Ohio) (4.00, Accounting) and freshmen Isaac Baltic (Medina, Ohio), (3.69, Aerospace Engineering), Bismack Kipchirchir (Eldama Ravine, Kenya), (3.526, Nursing) and Kaden Rambatt (Sharon, Wis.) (3.858, Mechanical Engineering).
In all, a total of 1,166 women and 947 men earned USTFCCCA All-Academic individual honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments during the 2025 campaign.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
For the indoor season:Â must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).
For the outdoor season: must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I.
