Akron Ranked No. 21 in United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll

2025 UNITED SOCCER COACHES MEN'S SOCCER PRESEASON POLL

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Akron men's soccer program will debut this season with a preseason ranking as United Soccer Coaches tabbed the Zips No. 21 in its preseason poll released on Thursday, July 31.

The Zips under the direction of 13th-year head coach Jared Embick will commence the 2025 campaign at VCU on Aug. 21 before opening their home season welcoming Northern Kentucky to FirstEnergy Stadium on Aug. 24.

Five of the Zips' 2025 opponents are rated in the preseason top-25 led by No. 1 Vermont, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 16 West Virginia, No. 20 Western Michigan and No. 22 Cornell.

Akron will welcome West Virginia and Western Michigan to FirstEnergy Stadium on Aug. 29 and Sept. 9, respectively, while encountering road tilts at Vermont (Sept. 13), Ohio State (Sept. 5) and Cornell (Oct. 7).

Akron will host preseason exhibitions versus St. Bonaventure, West Virginia Tech and Detroit Mercy on Aug. 9, 13 and 15, respectively. Matches will kick off at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
