Budler Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

2025 MAC HERMANN TROPHY WATCH LIST RELEASE (PDF)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - University of Akron redshirt senior men's soccer goalkeeper Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) added another accolade to his growing resume with his selection on Thursday (Aug. 21) to the 2025 Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List.
Budler is one of 29 men tabbed for consideration for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
The 2025 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Men's All-America Council from a list of returning 2024 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2025 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 9 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2025 recipient will be announced January 9, 2026, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
A 2024 United Soccer Coaches Third-Team All-America honoree, Budler started all 21 games for Akron a season ago en route to recording a 0.93 goals against average and a BIG EAST-leading nine shutouts on the strength of 51 saves and a .729 save percentage and was honored as the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year. He was named by the United Soccer Coaches as a Goalkeeper to Watch in 2025 as well as being honored as the BIG EAST preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and a unanimous preseason All-BIG EAST selection.
