Zips Open the 2026 CSCAA National Invitational Championships in Fifth-Place

OCALA, Fla. - The University of Akron women's swimming and diving team opened the 2026 CSCAA National Invitational Championship with a record-setting performance and several top finishes during Thursday's finals.
Akron highlighted the night by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay in a meet-record 1:29.75. Ada Szwabinska, Callie Parkes, Brie Trumpower and Cora Spetz combined for the victory, breaking the previous CSCAA meet mark.
Individually, the Zips added multiple A-final appearances.
Helena Lalkovic placed sixth in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 4:47.47 after qualifying for the championship heat earlier in the day.
Callie Parkes returned later in the session to place fifth in the 50 butterfly with a 23.94, giving Akron another top-five finish. Teammate Hannah Trainer finished 18th overall after taking eighth in the B final at 25.03.
Szwabinska added another podium performance in the 50 breaststroke, finishing second in 27.96, just behind Fresno State's Jenna Pulkkinen.
Akron also scored in the 50 backstroke, where freshman Abbey Cronin placed 15th overall after touching in 25.44 in the B final.
The relay title and runner-up finish from Szwabinska highlighted a strong opening night for the Zips.
