AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron men's soccer team unveiled a challenging 2026 fall schedule, one that will see the Zips face seven opponents from the 2025 NCAA Tournament field, including an Elite Eight rematch with Saint Louis, 14th-year head coach Jared Embick announced today.
In 2026, the Zips' 11-match season-ticket package features trips to FirstEnergy Stadium from NCAA Tournament participants Michigan, Cornell, Georgetown and Syracuse.

Akron is set to return seven starters in 2026, including 2025 All-BIG EAST Conference performer senior Matt Dreas (Covington, Ky.), as seniors Freddy Kossehasse (McKinney, Texas) and Matthew Paiva (Toronto, Ontario), redshirt junior Tyler Morck (Bethpage, N.Y.), juniors Remi Agunbiade (Toronto, Ontario) and Jack Roman (Canfield, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Thomas O'Rourke (East Patchogue, N.Y.).

The Zips will be bolstered this season by a talented 15-member 2026 signing class, which includes 11 freshmen and four transfers.

Akron will kick off its 72nd season of intercollegiate men's soccer welcoming Dayton (Aug. 20) to FirstEnergy Stadium for a non-conference showdown with the Flyers. The Zips also host Army (Aug. 24) and Wake Forest (Aug. 28) to close the month of August.
The month of September includes home contests versus Cornell (Sept. 8) and Robert Morris (Sept. 22), as well as Akron's Big East Conference opener against Butler (Sept. 19). The Zips will welcome 2025 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinalist and 2025 BIG EAST Conference champion Georgetown (Sept. 25) to FirstEnergy Stadium for the first meeting as league foes and initial time since the 2016 campaign.

Additionally, the Zips visit 2025 NCAA Tournament participant West Virginia (Sept. 3) before a showdown with 2025 NCAA College Cup participant Saint Louis (Sept. 12).

The Zips face a challenging month of October as Akron opens play at DePaul (Oct. 2) before hosting 2025 NCAA Tournament participant Syracuse (Oct. 6) and league rival Creighton (Oct. 11). Akron travels to Providence (Oct. 16) before a non-conference clash at Cleveland State (Oct. 20).

Two of the Zips final three league contests will be on the road with Akron traveling to Villanova (Oct. 31) and Marquette (Nov. 6). The Zips home finale will be a showdown with Xavier (Oct. 24).

The conference tournament is scheduled to begin with the semifinal matches on Nov. 12 and the championship game on Nov. 15 at Maryland Soccer Plex in Boyds, Maryland.

The Zips take to the pitch for the initial time on Aug. 8 when Akron hosts 2025 NCAA Tournament participant Michigan at FirstEnergy Stadium in the first of two exhibition matches before traveling to Northwestern (Aug. 14) to round out the exhibition campaign.
The NCAA Men's Soccer Championship play is set to commence on Nov. 19 and will culminate Dec. 11-14 at the College Cup in Cary, N.C.
