Kathy Rex has been employed by The University of Akron since 1977. Currently the Senior Administrative Assistant to the Director of Athletics, Rex has been in her present position since December 1995. She has worked with five athletics directors and three interim directors.
Rex began her association with Zips Athletics in May 1987, working in the Sports Information office. She was hired fulltime by the Dean's Office of the Community & Technical College (now Summit College) in 1981 after working there as a student assistant for four years.
Rex earned an associate's degree in business management in 1995. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business and organizational Supervision at Akron and is expected to graduate in May 2015.
Rex and her husband, Bill, have five children, Matt and Mark Bramley; Brian, Kevin, and Katie Rex.
