Swimming and Diving Falls to St. Francis

LORETTO, Pa. - The University of Akron swimming team was defeated on the road by St. Francis on Saturday, 153-109. No diving events were competed in the meet.
Sophomore Catherine Carr was a double winner for the Zips, taking the 200-yard backstroke and the 400-yard individual medley. Kendra Colby and Meghan Bowling also won events for Akron.
Carr won the 200-yard back in a time of 2:07.60. She would later take the win in the 400-yard IM, finishing in 4:37.63.
Colby won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.62. Bowling was first in the 1,000-yard freestyle, winning the event in 10:40.88.
Becca Zimmer and Kelsey Ferrante each placed second in two races. Zimmer was the runner-up in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle, while Ferrante took second in both the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly.
Kelsea Cross (200-yard butterfly), Meg Finnerty (100-yard freestyle), Rachel Szymkowiak (200-yard breaststroke), and Taylor Hart (50-yard freestyle) all placed second in one event each.
Akron is back in action next Friday when it hosts Bowling Green at Ocasek Natatorium. The meet begins at 4:00 p.m.
