Swimming and Diving Suffers Loss at Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, W.Va. – The University of Akron swimming and diving team suffered a 185-115 loss at Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
Kelsea Cross continued to swim well in the backstroke events, winning the 100-yard backstroke in a near season-best time of 58.09.
Jessica Ickes and Taylor Hart swept the top two spots in the 50-yard freestyle. Ickes won the event in 24.56, while Hart was just back in 24.60. Ickes later teamed up with Meg Finnerty to take the first and second in the 100-yard free. Finnerty's winning time was 53.51.
Cat Carr also took home an event win for UA, grabbing first in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:10.74.
Becca Zimmer grabbed second place in the 1000-yard freestyle. Kendra Colby finished as the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke. Meghan Bowling recorded a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
Senior Leeanna Hoover took third in both diving events. She totaled scores of 286.13 in the 1-meter and 310.13 in the 3-meter. Hoover's 3-meter total was her career-best.
Akron has just one tune-up left before next month's MAC Championship at Ocasek Natatorium. The Zips will host Buffalo on Friday at 4 p.m.
