Akron, Ohio – Coming off a fifth place finish at the Mary Fossum Invitational, the Akron women's golf team will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4, in Columbia, Mo. at the Johnie Imes Invitational.
"The Johnie Imes is one of our favorite events," Zips' head coach Jenny King said. "We love the course and enjoy the opportunity to compete against some great teams that we don't normally see. It will be a great experience for us."
The University of Missouri will host the 54-hole event at the Tigers' home course, The Club at Old Hawthorne, a par-72 that stretches 6,204-yards through a rolling terrain with multiple water hazards and fairway bunkers.
The 15-team field includes host Mizzou, Akron, Arkansas - Little Rock, East Tennessee State, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Fresno State, Kennesaw State, Long Beach State, Memphis, Mercer, Northern Illinois, North Texas, Rutgers, and Troy.
Akron's starting five consists of sophomore Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio), sophomore Makayla Dull (Fremont, Ohio), freshman Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.), junior Pader Her (Holt, Mich.), and senior Alejandra Velasco-Villanueva (Guadalajara, Mexico).
First round action is scheduled for a shotgun start, beginning at 8 a.m. with continuous play through the second round on Monday. Tuesday's final round is also scheduled for a shotgun start, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

In 2015, the Zips set Akron's best individual team round in program history, firing an even-par 288 during the second round of the Johnie Imes Invitational. The Zips finished 9th overall with the best 54-hole score in school history at 887 (+23). Her fired a 221 (+5) on rounds of 73-71-77 to finish second in team scoring and t-33rd overall. Nicholson carded the Zips' lowest round 2-under par 70 score and finished third in team scoring and 38th overall with a 222 (+6) effort. Dull and Velasco-Villanueva rounded out the scoring with 224 (+8) and 246 (+23) tournament scores.
Mizzou earned the tournament championship with scores of 280, 269, and 276 for an 825 (-39) tournament total, while the Tiger's Jess Meek captured medalist honors with three-straight 67-stroke performances to finish 15-under par with a 201-stroke total.
