Women’s Tennis Concludes Play at ITA Midwest Regionals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – University of Akron women's tennis concluded play on the fourth day of competition at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships at the Varsity Tennis Center on Sunday.
Seeded ninth, redshirt senior Sophia Geier (Burgebrach, Germany) fell to No. 2 seed Giulia Pairone of Michigan, 6-2, 7-6 (4). Pairone is currently ranked No. 33 nationally.
"I'm proud of Sophia's effort today," head coach Brandon Padgett said. "She showed that she absolutely can play at this level."
"I played really good tennis today," Geier said. "I am happy with how my performance improved since yesterday's match. It was super fun playing on a high level like this. I just wished I could see this more often, so I can really get myself in position to beat players like her in the future."
Akron concludes the Fall portion of its schedule at the MAC Fall Tournament on Nov. 2-4 at the Evert Academy in Boca Raton, Fla.
