No. 22 Akron Swimming and Diving Set for First Pair of Road Contests

AKRON, Ohio – The 22-ranked University of Akron women's swimming and diving team hits the road for its first pair of road meets this season. The Zips will take on No. 15 Ohio State and Denison at Ohio State on Friday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. before traveling to Muncie, Ind. to face Ball State in a Mid-American Conference contest, Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.
Akron met with Ohio State and Denison a season ago. The Buckeyes came out on top with 109 points, while the Zips followed with 92 points.
Earlier this season, Denison, the No. 3-ranked team in Division III, competed with the Zips at the Akron Zips Classic, coming in fourth place, while Akron took first.
Akron and Ball State didn't face each other during the regular season last year, but at the MAC Championships the Zips took first with a record-breaking score of 827.5, while Ball State placed eighth with 158 points. During the 2016-17 season, Akron topped the Cardinals in a dual, 208-89.
The Zips are undefeated so far this season after winning the Akron Zips Classic and defeating Buffalo in their first MAC dual of the season, 164-136.
Akron has four relays that are rated among the top ten in the nation, including the 800 freestyle relay (7:19.32) with the fourth fasted time, the 400 freestyle relay (3:19.91) at sixth, while the 400 medley (3:37.81) and 200 freestyle relays (1:31.51) rank seventh and eighth, respectively. Akron also has nine swimmers ranking in the top 25 in individual events.
Up next, the Zips will compete at the Magnus Cup Invitational, Nov. 16-18, in Cleveland, Ohio.
