AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's swimming and diving will be back in the water at the Ocasek Natatorium on Friday-Sunday, Dec. 4-6, as Akron hosts the annual Zippy Invitational.

Traditionally, the Zippy Invitational consists of 10 teams competing over the three-day span. However, this year's event will look different as Buffalo is slated to go head-to-head with Akron.

In relation to current COVID-19 advisories and protocols, the meet will be closed to the public and scheduled to stream live by Zips Digital Network on GoZips.com.

Competition begins on Friday, Dec. 4, with the preliminary round starting at 11 a.m. followed by the 1-meter diving prelims at Noon. Day one finals are scheduled for 6 p.m.

Saturday's swimming events schedule mirrors the first day, but the 3-Meter diving prelims are slated for 12:30 p.m. The meet concludes on Sunday, Dec. 6, with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 4 p.m.

The Zips are looking for their seventh consecutive Zippy Invitational Championship as Akron made it six-in-a-row last season with a 407-point victory over the 10-team field.

Akron earned 2,138 points over the three-day span, while Oakland recorded a second-place score of 1,731 and Cornell placed third with 1,441 points. Cornell captured the men's title (2,527.5 points), while Oakland (1,784 points) and Cincinnati (1,317 points) followed for second and third, respectively.
