What was the deciding factor that brought you to UA?
My husband Robert Jorgensen assumed the role of Director of Bands in 1987. I was fortunate to be offered a position as an adjunct teacher in the School of Music.
 Â
How has your position changed over the years?
I was asked to assume a new role as Director of Transfer Admissions then asked to be the Director of the College of Business Undergraduate Programs and then moved to Athletics by then Athletics Director Mack Rhoades to serve as an Assistant Athletic Director and coordinate Academics. I was then given a title of Associate Athletic Director for Academics.
Â
What are your current responsibilities?
In June 2019 Athletics Director Larry Williams asked me to assume a new role as the Director of our new Leadership Academy for our student-athletes. Â I also am the director of Programming for our athletes and direct their career development. Â I am so proud to also work with coaches in their recruiting efforts of athletes.
Â
What have you learned during your time on campus?
That The University of Akron is terrific, and I am so proud to work with all aspects of the institution and see our students progress in their life goals.
Â
Do you have a favorite memory to share?
I have thousands of memories, but the best is the notification that I was wanted to share in the development of our student-athletes.
Â
What advice would you give to a college student who wants to pursue a career in collegiate athletics?
The role you play in college athletics will be a forefront for your future. Respect all that can guide and help you.
Â
What makes you most proud to be a Zip?
Everyone works together to be the best we can be.
Â
Anything you'd like to add:
Thank you to all of our current, future, and former student-athletes. You are all terrific!
