Zips take 2nd Place at Tim Welsh Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – After three sessions of swimming and diving, the Akron Zips took second place with a final score of 821 points.
Saturday's session saw Weronika Groecka take third in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.79. Abigail Daniel took second in the 100 freestyle at 49.01, over a second faster than her seeding time. Sara Bozso just missed the podium with a fourth place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:14.64).
In the 400 freestyle relay event, the team of Gorecka (49.89), Daniel (48.96), Rebecca Reid (49.82), and Aislinn Holder (49.76) took second place.
Off the springboards, Bela Noble placed fifth in both the 1-meter with a total score of 264.50 and 3-meter with a score of 253.65.
Akron finished in second place behind Ohio State University and just ahead of host Notre Dame.

The Zips will finish the regular season with a dual meet against Miami University on February 2 in Oxford.
