Swim & Dive to Close Out Regular Season at Miami

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron swimming and diving team will close out their regular season with a dual meet against Miami in Oxford, Ohio.
The Zips are coming off a second place finish at the Tim Welsh Classic at the University of Notre Dame last weekend. With 821 points, Akron was the top non-ranked team in the competition, only outpaced by No. 6 Ohio State.
Abigail Daniel was once again named the MAC Swimmer of the Week for her efforts in the pool. She won the 100 butterfly in 51.71 seconds, just off the MAC record she set in December at the Zippy Invitational. In both the 100 freestyle (49.01) and the 200 IM (1:58.01), she placed second. She also finished in 4th place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.25.
This season the Zips are 2-2 in dual meets, having beaten Toledo in October (197-86) and Eastern Michigan in mid-January (174-124). They fell to Ohio State (77.5-222.5) and Ohio (126-173) in a single weekend in early November.

The Zips will look to defend their MAC Championship and go for the three-peat beginning on Wednesday February 28 on the campus of Ohio University.
