MAC Championship: Two Zips Land in Top 15, Akron Finishes Seventh Overall

Grove City, Ohio – Senior Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) and sophomore Avery Wright (Jackson, Ohio) finished in the Top 15 on the players' board at the 2024 Mid-American Conference Championships as Akron placed seventh overall with a 954 (+90) 54-hole tournament total at Pinnacle Club in Grove City, Ohio on Tuesday.

Hahn completed the initial round tied for 23^rd overall after a 79 (+7) performance. She climbed 13 spots after a second round 75 (+3) score to enter the final ranked at 10^th overall. Hahn carded a 79 (+7) final round tally for a 233 (+17) tournament total and finished the season finale 12^th overall. Hahn registered 25 par scores and six birdies in her final collegiate tournament.

Also landing in the Top 15 was Wright, tying at 14^th overall. Wright posted scores of 75 (+3), 81 (+9) and 79 (+7) for a 235 (+19) showing. She recorded eight pars and two birdies in the final 18-holes and finished with 25 par scores and seven birdies.

Junior Daphne van Son (Vlijmen, Netherlands) followed in scoring for Akron, placing tied for 30^th overall with a 77-82-83 – 242 (+26) total.

Sophomore Hridhika Vora (Mumbai, Maharashtra) and senior Abbi Fleiner (Reno, Nev.) rounded out the Zips' scoring with 250 (+34) and 255 (+39) scores.

Kent State claimed the 2024 MAC Championship and the Top 3 spots on the leaderboard as Hester Sicking and Leon Takagi tied for medalist honors with 1-over par tournament performances, while teammate Veronika Kedronova posted a 3-over par 54-hole total to finish third overall.

The 2024 Mid-American Conference Championships concludes the 2023-24 campaign for Akron golf.
