Akron Returns to Action - Competes at Buffalo and Duquesne This Week

The Zips were victorious at the Zippy Invitational, winning the event with 2,039 points. Akron set two meet records while Grace Nuhfer broke her S13 100-yard fly record.
Abigail Daniel was named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season for her performance at the Zippy Invitational. Abigail took gold in seven events and helped break two meet records while posting the 20th fastest time in the NCAA in the 100-yard fly (51.98).
Daniel also helped post the 21st fastest time in the NCAA in the 800-yard free relay and 24th fastest time in the 400-yard MR.
She also recorded or was a part of a relay squad that recorded the fastest time this season in the MAC in the 100-yard fly (51.98), 200-yard free relay (1:30.11), 400-yard MR (3:34.22), 200-yard IM (1:57.28), 200-yard MR (1:37.33) and 800-yard free relay (7:12.66).
Abigail helped Akron set meet records in the 200-yard MR (23.09) as the relay squad swam a time of 1:37.33. She also propelled the 400-yard MR (52.47) squad to a meet record of 3:34.22.
Akron will travel to back to Buffalo on January 18 for a conference dual meet for an 11 a.m. start.

Each team enters swimmers individual event numbers prior to the start of the meet. Entries will not be shared with opposing teams. All events will be in a hat. After the first relay, the swimmers competing in event #2 will be behind the blocks. When everyone is ready the announcer will draw an event out of a hat.
