Dobrijevic Named BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week

NEW YORK - University of Akron men's soccer senior Stefan Dobrijevic (Uniontown, Ohio) was named by the BIG EAST Conference as its Offensive Player of the Week the league announced on Monday, Oct. 27.

Dobrijevic turned in a strong week for the Zips registering team-highs in goals (2), assists (1), points (5), shots (3), shots on goal (3) and game-winners (1) en route to registering his first ever multi-goal performance with a pair of tallies and an assist in Akron's 3-1 victory at Xavier, the first road triumph there since 1997.

He opened the scoring with a successful penalty kick at the 12:38 mark for his fifth goal of the season before netting what proved to be the game-winning tally with a goal in the 33rd minute (32:55) off an assist from redshirt freshman Thomas O'Rourke (East Patchogue, N.Y.), for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Dobrijevic later garnered his team-best and league-leading ninth assist of the year on sophomore Remi Agunbiade's (Toronto, Ontario) goal at the 59:32 mark. He finished the contest posting a game-high three shots, all on goal.

He leads Akron in goals (6), assists (9), points (21), shots (40), shots on goal (16) and game-winners (2) this season.

The 22nd-rated Zips return to action on Saturday (Nov. 1) hosting Marquette in a 6 p.m. match at FirstEnergy Stadium.
