Zips Football adds Seven on National Signing Day 2025

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron football program, under the leadership of third-year head coach Joe Moorhead, has unveiled a seven-member signing class for 2026.
Moorhead and his staff have assembled a talented 2025 early signing class comprised of one veteran transfer and six true freshmen.
TRANSFER SIGNEE
Jon Stephens (6-3 | 285 | Freshman | Offensive Lineman | Simmes, Ala. | Mary G. Montgomery High School | Holmes Community College)
• In 2025, played in seven games on the offensive line as a freshman at Holmes Community College

Semaj Beals (6-1 | 190 | Quarterback | Philadelphia, Pa. | Roman Catholic High School)
• Three-star recruit by 247Sports at Roman Catholic High School
• Ranked as a Top 40 player in Pennsylvania and Top 68 nationally in the recruiting cycle by 247Sports.
• Four-year letter winner, playing 32 career games with 8,053 passing yards and 227 rushing yards for 258.8 yards per game.
• Threw 96 career touchdown passes, including 36 in back-to-back seasons as a junior and senior.
• Completed 60-percent of his career passes (537 of 894), including 64.8 percent as a senior (188 of 290)

Akron will kick off its 2026 campaign at Allegacy Stadium against Wake Forest in early September. The Zips 2026 schedule features six home games and six games on the road. Akron will battle Robert Morris (Sept. 12) and UNLV (Sept. 26) at home before Mid-American Conference play begins. Note: All games subject to change and Mid-American Conference game dates will be announced in the future.

Union streets) Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Ticket office will be closed from Dec. 23 through Jan. 1 as the campus will be closed for the holiday break.
