Akron and Georgia Southern are meeting for the third time in program history. The series is tied 1-1. Akron redshirt senior Shelbee Brown (Memphis, Tenn.) totaled a career-best 32 points, but the Zips fell to Western Michigan, 70-64, at James A. Rhodes Arena on Wednesday (Feb. 5).

Brown added a career-high 19 rebounds and a season-best five steals to her 32-point game to lead the Zips (9-14, 3-8). Senior Alexus Mobley (Indianapolis, Ind.) added 16 points and seven rebounds and freshman Ni'Rah Clark (Toledo, Ohio) chipped in with eight points.

Brown pulled down nine offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second-chance opportunities for Akron, grabbing 15 boards and turning them into 13 second-chance points.

Akron fell short in a 73-51 loss to rival Kent State on the road on Feb. 1.

Kelly Simmons of the Akron women's basketball program was among 21 graduate assistants who participated in the TopConnect Graduate Assistant Leadership Academy with coach Josh Pastner.
