Abby Daniel Selected to Swim at the 2025 NCAA National Championships

AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron swimmer Abigail Daniel was selected to swim at the 2025 NCAA Div. I National Championships in Federal Way, Wa., from March 19-22.
Daniel will compete in the 200 IM and 100 Fly and 200 Fly.
She was named the Mid-American Conference Most Outstanding Senior and the Mid-American Conference Most Outstanding Swimmer along with being named to the All-MAC First Team at the 2025 MAC Championships. She took gold in the 200 IM, 400 Medley Relay, 100 Fly, 200 Free Relay, 200 Fly and 400 Free Relay.
University of Akron swimmer Abby Daniel has been a dominant force in the Mid-American Conference since entering the league. Daniel secured the MAC Freshman of the Year award in 2021-22 and maintained her excellence over the next two years, earning MAC Swimmer of the Year in 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25

Daniel has helped the Zips win four consecutive MAC team championships and is a 18-time MAC champion, 4-time First Team All-MAC recipient, 2-time NCAA All-American. She is the current MAC Record Holder in the 100 & 200 Butterfly events as well as the 200 Individual Medley.

In 2024-25, Daniel was named a team captain. Her leadership is unmatched as she positively motivates her teammates, provides supportive energy and leads by example in and out of the pool. She was crowned MAC Champion the 200 IM with a 1:56.04 putting her 32nd in the NCAA this year. She also was crowned champion in the 400 Medley Relay, 100 Fly, 200 Free Relay, 200 Fly and 400 Free Relay. Daniel was also named the MAC Most outstanding Senior, Most Outstanding Swimmer and was named to the All-MAC First Team.

In 2023-24, Daniel was named Honorable Mention All-America in the 100 Fly and 200 IM as she finished 16th at the 2024 NCAA Championships in both events with times of 51.79 and 1:55.90, respectively. In addition, she set a school and MAC records in the 200 IM at the NCAA Championships with a 1:55:45 A-final qualifying time. She was named to the Academic All-MAC Team and CSC Academic All-District Team.

In 2022-23, Daniel set a MAC and pool record at the MAC Championships in the 100 butterfly at 51.65. She also set a pool record in the 200 butterfly for two individual MAC titles, won three relay championships (200 free relay, 400 free relay, and 400 medley relay). Daniel was named First Team All-MAC, Academic All-MAC and CSC Academic All-District Team.

In the classroom, Daniel maintains a 3.591 grade point average in exercise science and is planning pursuing doctorate degree for physical therapy.
