Akron Duo Earns Academic All-MAC Women's Basketball Honors

2024-25 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ACADEMIC ALL-MAC RELEASE
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of Akron women's basketball earned a pair of selections when the Mid-American Conference released its 2025 Women's Basketball Academic All-MAC Team on Thursday, April 17.
In all, 47 student-athletes from 12 conference institutions were honored including senior Zakia Rasheed (Avon, Ind.) and junior Liisa Taponen (Tampere, Finland).
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport and have been at residence at their school for one year. True freshman and first-year transfer student-athletes are not eligible.
