Zips Set Pair of Records at Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge, Van Son and Hezri Card 2-under Par Final Round Scores

Pawleys Island, S.C. – The Akron Zips fired a program best even par 284 final round score en route to a 54-hole tournament-best low score of 870 (+18) to finish third overall in team scoring at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge on Wednesday.
The Zips had four golfers land inside the Top 20 and were led by Daphne Van Son and Maisarah Hezri during the final round at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club (6,054-yard, par-71). Van Son and Hezri bot tallied 2-under par, 69-stroke performances on the final day. Van Son carded 12 par scores and four birdies, while Hezri recorded an eagle, three birdies and 11 par scores. Van Son finished the 54-hole event tied for 12th overall with a 75-75-69 – 219 (+6) score, while Hezri ranked 16th overall with a 76-75-69 – 220 (+7) ledger.
Leading the Zips overall scoring throughout the 54 holes was Sohniya Chandra Mohan with an even-par 213 tournament score. She posted back-to-back 1-under performances to open the tournament and finished with a final 18-hole 2-over par 73. She placed tied for fifth overall and carded an eagle, nine birdies and 33 par scores in 54 holes.
Hridhika Vora was second in scoring for Akron with a 5-over par 70-75-73 – 218 tournament total. Vora carded eight birdies and 36 par scores en route to an 11th place overall finish.
Rounding out the Zips scoring was Emily Liptak, finishing with 79-80-75 – 234 (+21) tournament total.
The Zips will be back in action at the Boilermaker Spring Classic on Sunday and Monday, April 6-7 at Ackerman Hills Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind.
