JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of Akron track and field team concluded its efforts at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Saturday (May 31) as a five Zips competed in final day action vying for a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships (June 11-14) in Eugene, Ore.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The women's 4x100 relay team of sophomore Ayanna Stafford (Columbus, Ohio), senior Joy Nwokike (Benin City, Nigeria), junior Vanessa Horn (Ludwigsfelde, Germany) and freshman Rukia Omulisia (Nairobi, Kenya) registered a time of 44.65.
• Redshirt senior Brook Boes (Tiffin, Ohio) posted a mark of 163-8 (49.89m) in the women's discus.
• Nwokike capped her decorated Akron career garnering a time of 53.71 in the women's 400 meters.
• Omulisia crossed the line in 13.46 in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
