Men's Basketball Unveils 2025-26 Non-Conference Schedule
August 15 | Men's Basketball
AKRON, Ohio - The Akron men's basketball team announced its 2025-26 non-conference schedule, highlighted by a road contest at Purdue, Head Coach John Groce announced on Friday, August 15.
"As we all know, the college basketball landscape has changed drastically over the last few years, thus making scheduling even harder than it was before, said Groce. "With that said, we are thrilled with the non-conference schedule we have put together. Our staff feels that we have once again constructed an extremely challenging slate that will help set us up to compete for MAC Championships. The last two seasons, we have played some of the hardest non-conference schedules in the history of the program per KenPom. We fully expect that to be the case again this year. Our program needs you to help us attack it. See you in the JAR!"
The Zips begin the 2025-26 campaign with the MAC-SBC Challenge as James Madison comes to James A. Rhodes Arena on November 3. The Blue and Gold stay at the JAR with Princeton (Nov. 8) and Penn State Shenango (Nov. 12) heading to the Rubber City. The Zips head to West Lafayette, Ind., to battle Big 10 powerhouse Purdue (Nov. 16) to begin a road swing.
Akron then heads to the US Virgin Islands to take part in the Paradise Jam from November 21-24. The Blue and Gold will begin the Paradise Jam with Iona on the 21st and will play either Evansville or Oregon State on the 22nd or 23rd. Also competing will be Charleston, UMass, Yale and Green Bay.
The Zips return home for a pair of home games with Milwaukee (Nov. 29) and Bucknell (Dec. 3) making their way to the 330.
The Blue and Gold hit the road when they travel to Tulane (Dec. 6) while battling Murray State in Henderson, Nev. (Dec. 13) as part of the Jack Jones Classic. Joining the Zips and Racers will be Santa Clara, Arizona State, UNLV, Tennessee State, UC San Diego and Tulane. Akron plays its penultimate non-conference game against Concord (Dec. 29) before traveling for the final round of the MAC-SBC Challenge (Feb. 7).
