ATHENS, Ohio -Â The University of Akron women's soccer team played Ohio to a 1-1 draw on Sunday (Sept. 21) at Chessa Field.
The Zips garnered their first road result against the Bobcats since a 0-0 draw on Oct 4, 2018. Ohio was projected to finish third in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
How it Happened
Both sides battled through a scoreless opening stanza as the Zips registered four first-half shots.
Ohio started the scoring when Anna Burchett scored in the 48th minute (47:57), assisted by Scout Murray.
The Zips evened the match on a goal from freshman Addison Hall (Manchester, Conn.), her third goal of the season, at the 57:56 mark, assisted by junior Jordanne Oberhaus (Wadsworth, Ohio) and freshman Fineen Cregan (Rochester, N.Y.).
Game Notes
- Redshirt freshman GK Ariana Vakos (Avon, Ohio) totaled six saves for the Zips out of 15 total Bobcats shots.
- Akron registered three shots on goal.
- Senior Emma King (Akron, Ohio) and freshman Olivia Pilato (Rochester, N.Y.) led the Zips with a team-high two shots apiece.
