AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's basketball program has elevated Jordan Amati to assistant men's basketball coach, head coach Dustin Ford announced Friday.
Amati enters his third season with the Zips in 2026-27, bringing experience in player development, scouting, program operations and national team basketball. Since joining the Akron coaching staff, he has contributed across multiple areas of the program, helping support the development of student-athletes and the day-to-day operations of the team.
"We are excited to elevate Jordan to assistant coach," Ford said. "Jordan has worked extremely hard and has earned this opportunity through his dedication, attention to detail and commitment to our program. He brings a tremendous work ethic and a strong understanding of the game, and his experience in player development, scouting and operations makes him a valuable part of our staff. I'm excited to see him continue to grow as a coach and help our program move forward."
Prior to joining Akron, Amati spent four years as a student manager at West Virginia University under Hall of Fame head coach Bob Huggins. During his time in Morgantown, he gained valuable experience in player development, scouting preparation and facility operations while working within a high-level collegiate basketball program. He also assisted with the development of future NBA players Miles McBride, Oscar Tshiebwe and Jalen Bridges.
Amati further broadened his basketball experience through volunteer work with USA Basketball, assisting at training camps for the U.S. Olympic team, the FIBA World Cup team and the U18 National Team. His responsibilities included working at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and in Las Vegas.
Additionally, Amati completed an internship with the NBA in player marketing during All-Star Weekend, serving as a player liaison for Jaylen Brown, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams.
Amati's promotion reflects his continued growth within the Akron program as the Zips prepare for the 2026-27 season.
