Strong Performances Highlight Final Day of Bob Davidson Team Challenge for Akron

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The University of Akron track and field team garnered a pair of runner-up team finishes on the strength of 11 victories on the final day of the Bob Davidson Team Challenge hosted by High Point on Saturday (March 21).
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshman Jackline Nanjala (Kitale, Kenya) posted the No. 2 time in outdoor program history winning the women's 400 meters in 53.34, while senior Vanessa Horn (Ludwigsfelde, Germany) finished second in 54.14.
• Redshirt senior Brook Boes (Tiffin, Ohio) registered the No. 5 mark in outdoor program history in the women's shot put finishing second with a career-best mark of 50-4.50 (16.50m). Additionally, she placed second in the women's discus with a throw of 161-11 (49.37m).
• Junior Andrew Styles (Freeport, Bahamas) won the men's 400 meters in a career-best time of 46.87.
• Junior AJ Jordan (Columbus, Ohio) captured the men's 100 meters in 10,50, while junior Rennie Gittens, Jr., (Miami, Fla.) placed second in a time of 10.61.
• Jordan also crossed the line first in the men's 200 meters in a time of 20.77.
• Redshirt senior Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio) bested the field in the men's shot put with a throw of 180-3 (54.94m), while also placing first in the men's shot put with a mark of 58-11.50 (17.97m).
• The men's 4x400 relay team of junior Braylyn Farrington (Alabaster, Ala.), Jordan, sophomore Jalen McCoy (Rochester, N.Y.) and Styles won the event posting the No. 3 time in outdoor program history crossing the line in 3:08.94.
• The women's 4x400 relay team of Horn, senior McKenzie McNitt (Cleveland, Ohio), sophomore Mariyah Moore (Cleveland, Ohio) and Nanjala bested the field in 3:39.14, the No. 2 time in outdoor program history.
• The men's 4x100 relay squad of Gittens, Jr., Jordan, sophomore Garrett Tiller (Streetsboro, Ohio) and Styles finished first in 40.02, the No. 4 effort in outdoor program history.
• The women's 4x100 relay squad of junior Amari Pratt (Nassau, Bahamas), freshman Te'Aira Branham-Patrick (Dayton, Ohio), Horn and Moore crossed the line first in 44.68, the No. 3 effort in outdoor program history.
