Zips Fall to Dayton in High Scoring Affair

AKRON, Ohio -Â Akron got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Zips fell to the Dayton Flyers 14-11 Wednesday.
Brennan Morgan compiled a 2-for-4 day; racking up two doubles, two RBI and two runs. Easton Amundson scored three times while drawing four walks. Austin Lafferty smoked a home run and added two RBI and two walks to his performance. Kyle McConachie, Brody Chrisman and Gabe Mathison all had multi-RBI performances to help the Akron offense.
Garrett Groce (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Akron (6-7). Adison Mattix was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning while allowing one hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Akron's offense started clicking and put up six runs, including a two-run error off the bat of and a two-run double from .
The Zips then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the second inning after the Flyers cut it to 6-3. which brought the Zips lead to 8-3.
Akron's lead had evaporated by the time the eighth inning arrived and turned into a 14-8 Dayton advantage, when the Zips cut that deficit to 14-11. The Zips notched three runs in the frame, two of them coming across on a two-run single off the bat of . The Zips were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
