Akron Concludes Campaign Falling to Massachusetts in MAC Lacrosse Title Match

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A stellar campaign for the University of Akron lacrosse team concluded on Saturday (May 2) as Massachusetts registered a 15-3 triumph past the Zips in the title game of the Mid-American Conference Championship.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Senior Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.) led Akron a two-goal performance, while senior Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.) accounted for the lone other tally for the Zips.
• Junior Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.) directed Akron with a pair of assists.
• Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Adrianna Califano (Bellmore, N.Y.) recorded six saves in the match for Akron, while leading the Zips with a team-best three ground balls.
• Senior Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Julia Mattingly (Leonardtown, Md.) paced the Zips with a team-high two draw controls each, while Baumer, sophomore Kayla Murphy (Annapolis, Md.) and junior Evelyn White (Dublin, Ohio) registered a game-high two caused turnovers apiece.
• Baumer and junior Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) directed Akron with seven and six shots, respectively.
• Today's match marked the final career contests at Akron for senior Sarah Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.), Katie Baumer, Carey, Dani Dahl (Fairfax, Va.) and Fletcher.
