INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Akron volleyball team was defeated by Butler, 3-0 (23-25, 21-25, 19-25) at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

The Zips found themselves down 8-4 in the first set but scored four straight to tie it up. They knotted the set up five more times before taking a 16-14 advantage. After two consecutive Butler points, Akron went ahead, 17-16, but could not threaten anymore following four straight Bulldog points. The Zips did pull within one, 24-23, but Butler seized the set with a kill.

Akron registered the second set's first three points, but the Butler scored the next five to take the advantage for good. The Zips got within one on eight separate occasions but could not gain any momentum.

Once again, Akron got out to a 3-0 lead to start the third and maintained that advantage making it 13-11. Butler then took the lead with three straight points before Akron gained it back, 15-14. However, four consecutive Bulldog points afterwards all but sealed the deal for the hosts as they never allowed the Zips back into the set.

As a team, Akron hit .089 compared to Butler's .219. Delaney Gash led the way with eight kills, while Clara Christensen registered 17 digs.
