as a Redshirt Junior (2009): Led the team with five rushing touchdowns ... appeared in all 12 games, earned starts against Morgan State (Sept. 12) and Eastern Michigan (Nov. 27) ... rushed for 32 yards and a touchdown against Morgan State ... found the endzone again in a loss at Buffalo (Oct. 17) ... helped lead the Zips to a 28-20 win over Kent State (Nov. 7) with a first-quarter touchdown run ... scored twice in the first quarter in a victory against Eastern Michigan (Nov. 27) in the final game of the season ... finished with a season-high 50 yards on 14 carries against the Eagles ... hooked up with Andre Jones on a trick-play, 80-yard touchdown pass in a losing effort at Northern Illionis (Oct. 31) ... also finished with 40 yards on six receptions.
as a Junior (2008): Was Akron’s starting running back before leaving the Ball State game (game three) prior to halftime with a season-ending hip injury ... Despite playing just two and a half games, still ranked third on the team with 152 rushing yards for 2008 and second with three rushing touchdowns ... In Akron’s win at Syracuse, Allen rushed for a career-high 103 yards on 21 attempts, scoring twice ... Both TDs were one-yard plunges in the second quarter, the second coming with 22 seconds left for a 28-14 UA lead at the break ... Versus Ball State, scored a five-yard TD as the Zips trailed 17-10 at halftime.
as a Redshirt Sophomore (2007): Started the season slow battling a nagging injury, missing the Indiana game … Still led the Zips in rushing touchdowns for the season, scoring seven of the team’s 11 TDs on the ground … Scored six of those seven TDs over the last five games … Was second on the squad with 430 rushing yards … Highlight of the season came in a win over Ohio before a national ESPN2 telecast … Was named MAC East Player of the Week for his performance versus the Bobcats, rushing for 96 on 14 attempts (6.9 avg.) … Additionally scored a career-high three touchdowns, which is even more impressive considering the Zips’ only had five rushing TDs as a team prior to Ohio ... During a second-quarter scoring drive, which gave the Zips a lead (17-13), Allen accounted for 35 of the 59 yards, thanks to a 31-yard run and a one-yard TD run ... Allen would put the Zips up 27-13 on UA’s first drive of the second half with a two-yard TD ... Then with Akron holding on to a 10-point lead in the fourth, Allen accounted for all five plays and all 41 yards, including a one-yard TD, sealing the victory … Followed that win another solid outing, also before a national ESPN2 telecast, rushing for 79 yards on 14 attempts (5.6 per attempt) at Miami … Scored what proved to be the winning TD, a one-yard plunge early in the fourth, as the Zips defeated Kent State, 27-20. … His score put UA up 24-17 and he rushed for 45 yards on 15 attempts in the contest … Gave the Zips an early 7-0 lead at Buffalo only to see the Bulls score 13 unanswered and hold on for a 26-10 win … Allen rushed for 41 yards (12 att) at Buffalo with two receptions for 34 yards … Caught a career-high three passes at Bowling Green (for 28 yards) while rushing six times for 36 yards, including a three-yard TD.
Sophomore (2006): Took a medical redshirt for the 2006 season after suffering a knee injury during preseason practices.
as a Freshman (2005): Appeared in all 13 games, seeing most of his action on the punt return team ... Carried the ball just twice on the season, both times versus Ohio ... One of six true freshmen to play during the Zips’ championship season.
Prior to Akron: An honorable mention All-Ohio selection by Ohio High School Magazine as a senior, rushing for 2,455 yards on 299 carries ... Tabbed the 2004 Mahoning County Player of the Year ... First-team All-Steel Valley Conference as a junior and senior ... Posted 21 rushing touchdowns as Ursuline finished 7-5 in 2004 ... Ran for 1,100 yards and caught 49 passes for 500 yards as a junior ... Also ran track … Coached by Dan Reardon.
