2022: Started all 10 games he appeared in for Akron...threw for 2,609 yards and 10 touchdowns...averaged 260.9 yards per contest via the air and went 253-for-380 for a 66.6 percent completion percentage...rushed for a 314 yards and four touchdowns...went 4-of-54 for season-high 418 yards at Ohio...passed for 383 and 316 yards, respectively, at Kent State and versus Miami...completed 20 or more passes in eight games...rushed for 105 yards while connecting on three touchdowns through the air against Bowling Green.
2022 ACCOLADES: Third-Team All-MAC.
2021: Appeared in eight games for the Zips, including three starts...passed for 892 yards on the campaign completing 78-of-120 attempts, while ranking as the Zips’ second-leading rusher gaining 309 yards and two touchdowns...made Akron debut at Auburn (Sept. 4) going a perfect 13-for-13 for 129 yards and one touchdown...threw for a career-high 296 yards on 19-of-23 passing, including three touchdowns, while rushing for a career-best 136 and one touchdown, in the Zips’ victory over Bryant (Sept. 18)...completed 14 passes, including a touchdown, at No. 10 Ohio State (Sept. 25)...was 14-for-17, while rushing for 64 yards and passing for two touchdowns versus Ohio (Oct. 2)...gained 67 yards on the ground against Buffalo (Oct. 23).
PRIOR TO AKRON: A 247Sports three-star quarterback from Lawrenceville, Ga., came to Akron from Iowa Central Community College...earned JUCO All-America accolades, completing over 62 percent of his passes for 2,039 yards and 21 touchdowns en route to recording a passing efficiency of 186.8...added an additional five touchdowns rushing...named the 2019 ICCAC Player of the Year, Irons led Iowa Central to its best season in program history, including a victory over rival and perennial power, Iowa Western...during the 2019 campaign, Irons posted four games with three or more touchdown passes, including a four-touchdown performance in a 45-17 victory over Coffeyville Community College...was named the Most Valuable Player of the Graphic Edge Bowl after throwing for 350 yards and four touchdowns...as a prep at national powerhouse Grayson High School, was recognized as the Georgia 7A Offensive Player of the Year in his senior season...in addition, Irons was a standout three-sport athlete (football, basketball and track) and four-year letter winner at Grayson High School under head coach Christian Hunnicutt.
