as a Junior (2009): All-MAC Third Team performer ... appeared in all 12 games ... started the last seven contests at strong safety ... third on the team with 58 tackles, including 35 solos ... recorded a career-high 12 tackles, six solo, and an interception against Buffalo (Oct. 17) ... racked up 10 tackles, six solo, against Northern Illinois (Oct. 31) ... credited with a half-sack at Bowling Green (Nov. 20) ... also second on the team with 246 yards on 13 kick returns (18.9/attempt).
as a Sophomore (2008): Played in all 12 games, starting each of the last seven at free safety ... Only had six tackles in his first five games, getting 42 over the final seven as a starter ... His 48 tackles for the season ranked ninth on the squad ... Added four pass breakups, third-best on the team, with a forced fumble, and interception and blocked punt ... Battled some injuries during fall camp ... Had two tackles and his first career PBU versus Cincinnati ... Made his first career start at Kent State and responded with four tackles, including 1.5 TFL and a half sack ... The following week, versus Bowling Green, had six tackles and two PBU ... Led the team with 10 stops, all solo, in a win at Eastern Michigan ... Also, was added to the kick return team at EMU and, with teams kicking away from Bryan Williams, showcased his talent with a 29-yard return on his first (and only) attempt ... Only played the first half versus Toledo due to an injury, but made the most of his time ... On Toledo’s first possession, a three-and-out, Carter blocked the punt, which Aaron Williams recovered in the endzone for a TD and an early 14-0 Akron lead ... It was Akron’s first blocked punt since Brian White accomplished the feat versus Kent State in 2005 — a span of 35 games ... Tallied 10 stops versus Buffalo with a forced fumble and a pass breakup ... Registered five stops at Ohio ... Closed the season with four tackles at Temple, getting his first career interception.
as a Freshman (2007): One of seven true freshmen to play in all 12 UA games, but was one of just two true freshmen (joining Almondo Sewell) to play in all 12 games … Saw most of his action on the special teams, also backing up Andre Jones at free safety … Had two tackles at Ohio State and Indiana … Added stops versus Temple and Ohio as well.
Prior to Akron: A two-year starter at both wide receiver and cornerback, earning first-team All-City League honors on offense as a senior … Hauled in 31 receptions for 617 yards ... Over his junior and senior years, scored 16 touchdowns, 14 on pass receptions plus two on kick returns … Recorded three interceptions as a senior, helping St. John’s Jesuit post an 8-3 record and qualify for the Division I state playoffs in each of the past two seasons … Also a sprinter on the track team, placing 11th at the Division I state meet in the 100-meter dash as a Senior.
