as a Sophomore (2008-09): Named to the MAC All-Tournament Team ... Played in all 36 games and got the starting nod 12 times ... was in the starting unit during the first three and last three games of the season as well as a stretch of six-consecutive outings from Dec. 17-Jan. 13 ... 36 games played tied six other players for most in a season in program history and also tied for the most by an Akron sophomore ... relieved injured starting point guard Anthony "Humpty" Hitchens in the MAC Tournament quarterfinal versus Miami (Ohio) (March 12), striking with a season-high 17 points (6-of-9 field goal shooting and 5-of-7 3-point field goal shooting) ... 46 of 64 field goals made were 3-pointers ... 133 3-pointers attempted ranked as third most in program history by a sophomore ... connected on 11-of-18 3-pointers in four MAC tourney contests ... tallied three-consecutive double-figure scoring games - 10 points at VCU (Dec. 17), 12 points versus St. Francis (N.Y.) as a Redshirt-Freshman (2007-08): Named to the MAC All-Freshman Team ... played in 34 of a possible 35 games and was in the starting lineup twice ... games played number ranked tied for sixth most in a season in school history (Quade Milum also did so in 2007-08) and is the second most by a freshman in program history ... two starts were against Tennessee State (Nov. 18) in the BP Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska, and at Western Michigan (Feb. 6) ... finished the season with a 35.8 shooting percentage from 3-point range, which was the best by a MAC rookie ... 39 of his 56 field goals made were 3-pointers ... 109 3-pointers attempted was fourth most by a freshman in school history (tied David Tillis in 1995-96 and Dru Joyce in 2003-04) ... scored a career-high 20 points in a 69-54 win over Miami (Ohio) (Jan. 5) ... connected on 6-of-6 3-pointers (6-of-8 field goals) in that game, which tied the school record for most 3-pointers attempted and made without missing (Anthony Buford, 6-of-6, vs. Middle Tennessee on Jan. 7, 1989; David Falknor, 6-of-6, at Northern Illinois on Feb. 5, 2001) ... that performance also made him only the fourth player in school history to finish with a perfect 3-point percentage when making five or more from beyond the arc (Nick Dials, 5-of-5, at Toledo on Feb. 10, 2007) ... also scored in double figures (16 points) versus Toledo (Jan. 30) ... went 6-of-9 from the field, including hitting 4-of-5 3-pointers in that game versus the Rockets ... had a career-best four assists on three occasions (versus Toledo, at top-25 ranked Dayton on Jan. 2 and versus Wyoming on Dec. 1) ... logged a season-high 29 minutes in the Dayton game ... made a career-high four steals in UA's 65-60 overtime win at Florida State (March 18) in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament ... led the Zips in scoring twice, in assists twice and steals twice ... 1.8 assists-per-game ranked third on the team ... at Shenango High School: Averaged 28.4 points-per-game, eight assists-per-game and seven rebounds-per-game as a senior ... as a senior was named to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Terrific 10 and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette All-WPIAL Class AA First Team as well as being one of the paper's Fab 5 selections ... picked to The Associated Press All-State Second Team in his final season as a prep player as well ... a four-year starter, he finished his career tied for 15th in WPIAL history with 2,192 points, and with school records for points, assists (824) and steals (233) ... member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD).
Personal: Born Aug. 31, 1987 ... parents are Bill and Kathy McNees ... father is the former boy's coach at Shenango High and also played basketball at Slippery Rock ... earned a bachelor's degree in August 2010 and is currently enrolled in graduate school.
