Ieasia Walker is in her first season as the head strength and conditioning coach with the Akron women’s basketball and volleyball teams for the 2025-26 campaign.
Walker leads the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for both teams.
A native of Amityville, New York, basketball has always been a central part of Walker's life. She played for the University of South Carolina under legendary head coach Dawn Staley, where she helped lead the Gamecocks to their first-ever Sweet 16 appearance. Throughout her career, Walker earned numerous honors, including All-SEC Defensive Player of the Year, All-SEC Defensive Team, and All-SEC accolades, establishing herself as one of the program's standout players.
After her playing career, Walker transitioned into coaching and strength and conditioning, combining her passion for basketball, fitness, and athlete development. Before arriving at Akron, she spent one season at Austin Peay as an assistant coach and strength and conditioning coach for the women’s basketball program, where she played a key role in player development and team performance.
Walker also has an extensive background from her time at Tuskegee University, where she served as the strength and conditioning coach for women’s basketball, volleyball, cheer, and assisted with football.
As an assistant coach for the Tuskegee women’s basketball team, she helped guide the Golden Tigers to an outstanding 41-14 record, including a perfect 26-0 season in 2023, which led to a conference championship. Her players garnered multiple individual awards, including conference tournament MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Player of the Year.
In addition to her time at Tuskegee, Walker's experience includes stints at Auburn University and Howard University, where she worked with various sports programs, including women’s basketball, volleyball, swimming, cheer, track, tennis, and football, enhancing athlete performance across multiple disciplines.
Walker brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for developing athletes both physically and mentally. She is dedicated to optimizing the performance and well-being of her teams, ensuring they reach their full potential both on and off the court.
