DeKALB, Ill. – Akron was unable to stop Mid-American Conference West Division power Northern Illinois on its home floor, falling to the Huskies in three sets on the road Friday night.
The result moves Akron to 8-14 overall and 2-5 in the conference, while Northern Illinois sits at 14-7 and 7-0 in league play.
Amanda Bedell led the Zips with five kills, and Mary Delich added four. Karley Kusan scattered 12 assists.
Defensively, Callie Mack and Anna Wenger posted seven digs apiece to contribute to Akron's final tally of 25.
NIU was paced by a match-high 13 kills from Mackenzie Roddy and a .778 attack percentage from MAC West Defensive Player of the Week, Jenna Radtke. As a team, the Zips struggled to cool off a hot-hitting Northern team that posted a .366 clip.
Akron's MAC West road swing continues at Western Michigan on Saturday. The Zips and the Broncos will face off at 7 p.m. ET at University Arena. WMU defeated Buffalo in four sets on Friday night.
