Akron Golf 11th Place After Two Rounds of Kingsmill Intercollegiate

Williamsburg, Va. – Sophomore Makayla Dull (Fremont, Ohio) led the Akron women's golf team to 11th place after 36 holes with a team-best 151 (+7) ledger en route to a 618 (+42) team total at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary on Monday.
Collectively, the Zips posted a 306 (+18) initial 18-hole score at the par-72 Kingsmill Resort River Course that stretches 6,025 yards. Akron added a 312 (+24) second round for the 11th place ranking.
Dull fired a 2-over par 74 opening round score and followed with a 77 (+5) score. Starting the opening round on hole No. 2, Dull carded eight-straight par scores before recording birdie on the par-5 tenth hole. She added six pars and three bogeys to finish the initial 18 holes with a 2-over tally. In the second round, she followed with eight pars, three birdies, six bogeys, and a double to finish the 36 holes tied for 19th on the leaderboard.
Junior Pader Her (Holt, Mich.) was second in scoring for the Zips. She used rounds 78 (+6) and 77 (+5) for a 155 (+11) two-round total. Her is currently tied for 40th overall and joined by sophomore Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio). Nicholson registered rounds of 80 (+8) and 75 (+3).
Rounding out the Zips' scoring with a pair of 161 (+17) scores were junior Mallory Etcheberry (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and freshman Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.).
Ball State currently leads the 22-team field with a 593 (+17) tournament total, while Liz Choi (William & Mary) leads the individual scoring with a 1-under par 143 total.
The final round is scheduled for a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Zips are scheduled to start on holes 7-9 -- Dull (7), Her (8B), Nicholson (8A), Wentworth (9B), and Etcheberry (9A).
